Description of www.readwritethink.org

Readwritethink is a website providing web tools published by the National Council for Teahers of English (NCTE) and sponsored by the International Reading Association (IRA) and Thinkfinity Verizion Foundation. Focused on K-12 Literacy in the 21st Century, this web tool is a "one stop" resoure for educators and parents alike. Teachers can find lesson plans, student interactives, podcasts, and calendar activities. For professional development there are strategy guides, expert advisors, web seminars and online professional development. Teachers can also network with other teachers, contribute to the site, and receive RSS. Best of all Readwritethink isn't just for teachers. Parents can access activities, projects, games, tips, how-tos, and more. This web tool is user friendly, free (except for some profession development features) and requires a minimum of additional system requirements.

Does the web tool's objectives align with Kansas state standards? 5 stars

Yes! The standards that are used for the web tools at readwritethink.org are aligned to the standards created by the NCTE and the IRA. These are easily accessed from the readwritethink.org home page under the heading About Us. These standards align well with Kansas literacy standards.


There is no mission statement on this website, the NCTE and IRA along with Thinkfinity Verizon Foundation have mission statement on their websites and readwritethink is fulfilling their missions. 21st Century Literacy is their mission.
